Theme The theme of the 2011 annual SGIM meeting "The Many Faces of Generalism", envisions generalism as a critical building block for 21st century medicine. As leaders in hospitals, universities, primary care practices, and nursing homes we cross the boundaries between education, research, policy, and practice. In this meeting we will view the many faces of our profession and provide attendees with a tremendous opportunity to work together to promote social responsibility and the health of vulnerable populations. Come to Phoenix in 2011 to be part of the momentum and feel the passion and impact of the work we do!
"Greening" the SGIM Annual Meeting
Our annual meeting paper reduction initiative was initiated in 2005, and this year the 2011 annual meeting will be paperless! All annual meeting information will be on the website and sent via email.
This expands our "greening" of the meeting through the use of online submissions, peer review, electronic handouts, meeting registration, evaluations and CME applications. The Sheraton Phoenix Downtown hotel has implemented an extensive green initiative making them a great partner in our commitment to the environment.
Online registration is preferred; those of you who submit a paper registration either by fax or by mail will be charged a $25 paper registration processing fee. These actions have reduced print materials by 80%. Online evaluation in 2010 not only saved us the cost of printing but increased our overall meeting evaluation response rate to 80%.
